School districts rise in ratings Test scores are back, and the Holly Springs School District is excited to have the best scores the district has ever had. Two of the three schools in the district that participate in the testing system have been rated Successful based on the accountability rating system completed by the Mississippi Department of Education. The 63-acre historic property was purchased by Rust College from the CME Church Pension Board, he said, and was not a gift. The transfer of the property, listed as one of the 10 most endangered historic places in Mississippi, was made in August 2008, he said. The MI campus includes five buildings and the office complex of ICS Head Start, Beckley said. Since purchasing the property, Rust College has been seeking partners and funding sources to help restore the historic structures and to develop the old campus for community prosperity. The campus was listed as a major community resource of Holly Springs by the Main Street planners because of its potential as an historic site.
Man charged in burglaries of two county businesses By SUE WATSON A man serving a seven-year sentence at a Mississippi Department of Corrections facility in Leake County was arrested and charged with the burglary of two commercial buildings Sunday, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson. |
