City’s charm at its best
Holly Springs’ beauty and Southern hospitality shined this past weekend.
Yards were mowed and well groomed, colorful flowers were blooming, the sun was shining with terrific temperatures, and the home folks were all smiles and welcoming out-of-town guests.
Close to Nowhere
I’m already gone
Friday, April 23, will be my granddaughter Meredith’s 14th birthday.
Saturday, April 24, will be Pop’s and my 40th wedding anniversary. (I’m still 39 though -- we got married in a previous life!)
Tuesday, my friend Jane and I left for the quilt show in Paducah, Ky. I may have mentioned quilting a time or two around here. We won’t be home until Sunday, April 25.
The Preacher’s Corner
“...do justice, love mercy, walk humbly...”
We have workmen at the church and I have to go over early each morning to let them in. As a result, you will see me out walking the dog at the crack of dawn, and then when the men are finished in the afternoon, I swing by Wendy’s, where the nice people there are kind enough to give me a cup of coffee at the old folks’ rate.
Perfect, perfect – and all free, here in Mississippi
Tens are few and far between. When they happen, it is a moment to cherish.
By “10” I mean an event that rates a 10 on a scale of one to 10. Everything has to happen perfectly. Given the complexities of life, this is a rarity. With perseverance, life will award you an occasional 10.
Letters To The Editor
This letter comes to give thanks and commendations to the Holly Springs Fire Department for their response to a fire at my home on April 10. The first firemen to arrive on the scene were James Richmond, Charles Preston and Lee Henry Pegues. Their quick response saved what could have been a total loss of my home.
Please take time to remember our local “heroes” who are serving in war zones around the world.
