Four
suspects are in custody, charged with armed robbery that took place in
the Fisher Cove area of Byhalia Saturday morning, according to sheriff
Kenny Dickerson. The victims were awakened at
about 5 a.m. October 10 when suspects allegedly kicked in the door of
their mobile home, held the victims at gunpoint, threatened them and
robbed them at gunpoint and took household items and cash, he said. Full Story

Collins, general manager at the Holly Springs Utility Department since
November 1, 2006, tendered his resignation during the board of aldermen
meeting September 6. Collins has accepted the
post of general manager at Chickasaw Electric Cooperative in Fayette

seasonal thunderstorm packing high straight-line winds picked spots in
Holly Springs Friday to take down big trees, power lines and utility
poles. The storm hit around noon and was out of town after knocking out electricity to downtown and in some of the subdivisions. Full Story

is music in the hills that can be said to have originated there – in
Appalachia. The dulcimer – a four-stringed instrument that is picked or
strummed in the lap – made its debut sometime in the late 1700s to

Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 3; motor
vehicle accident, 1; escorts, 1; animal-related calls, 1; medical
assistance, 5; fires, 1; harassment, 1; and miscellaneous, 6. Police also made six arrests last week.
Fall cleanup slated for Oct. 19-31; county provides roll-off dumpsters The
